[Guide] What is a board?

A Quick Guide to Pinterest Boards

What is a board?
  •  A board is where all of your pins are categorized for you and your friends to look at.

How do I create a board?
  • On your Pinterest page, you will see the "Add+" tab. Click on that and you will get 3 options...
  • Click on Create a Board.

  • Then simply name your board and choose a category most of your pins will come from. This helps others see what you have pinned and allows Pinterest to keep the Pins orderly.
  • If you want to allow other to add to your board, click "Me+ Contributors". If you'd like to be the only person to add to your board, click "Just Me".

And Volla! You have your first board. You can have as many boards as you'd like. When you create your account, Pinterest will automatically create boards for you. You have the option to keep these boards or rename them or delete them.

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions. Thanks for visiting!

[Guide] Easy User Guide to Pinterest

This is an Easy User Guide to Pinterest!

How do you begin?
  • First, go to www.pinterest.com
  • If you do not have an invite from someone, you will need to click on "Request an Invite".  It is not the quickest way to enter the world of Pinterest, but it will get your foot in the door.  Finding someone with a Pinterest account is the easiest way to join immediately.

I need an invite?
  •  Simply enter your email address... but as mentioned above, it can take a very long time to get an invite from Pinterest themselves.

What does the main Pinterest site look like?

  • Once you get in to the main page on your personalized Pinterest homepage, it will look like this:

How do I use Pinterest?
  • Now, you can scroll through idea after idea of any category you chose.  For this example I chose "Kids".  When you see something you like, just scroll your mouse over the picture and you get three options: "Repin, Like or Comment"
  • Repin means it will now show up on one of your boards (See "How to Create Your Boards") and your wall for you and your friends to see.
  • Like means you like the idea and the person that posted the idea will be notified of the "like".
  • Comment means you can leave a comment for the person that posted to see.

How do I repin?

  • Select the Board you would like it to go to and click "Pin It"
  • You can now view this idea on your Board for future reference and for your followers to see.

What does it look like when I click on a picture on Pinterest?

  • If you click on the link itself, it will take you to the actual page  where you can choose to go to the original website where the idea  originated.  When you click on the picture a new window or tab will pop up and take you to the hosting website.
  • You can also choose to follow the person that Pinned it or share it, on Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc.

It is a fairly simple website to navigate.  If you have any questions or comment, please contact me.

Thanks and enjoy!
